Well, unfortunately, I am finding this quite complicated. However, should any researcher be interested in a case study, I would like to offer my German based family who came from area of Hammendstedt, Elvershausen and Mark, in Northeim Germany. Many of them moved to Logan Township, Canada. They were endogamous in Germany and carried on intermarrying in Canada. As a result, despite the fact my great grandfather left Germany in 1850, I am finding cousins in Germany who share 59 cm with me, 120 years later. I am working with a German cousin who has terrific records of the Germany based family, and there are several researches in Canada and the US with very good records for North America.
